As two of the aims of the Foundation Year Network are to promote good practice in foundation year provision and to support the continuing professional development opportunities for foundation year practitioners, we are keen continue to meet these aims during the current climate.
Following on from the successful coffee mornings held before the Annual Conference, we are continuing the series over the summer. We have planned four coffee mornings in quick succession before it gets busy with holidays and A-level results. Colleagues may also be taking holiday over the summer, so at the last coffee morning participants agreed that having a few close together, even two in one week, was useful before this.
The forthcoming coffee mornings are:

At the AGM and the closing session of the Annual Conference several ideas for future coffee mornings and workshops were put forward. We will look at these and plan future sessions. One coffee morning that we will be hosting in the autumn will be on staff and student wellbeing, hosted by Rebecca and Amy from Aston University. This might extend to a physical workshop or one via TEAMMATES – more on that nearer the time.
A poll conducted at the Annual Conference suggested that most members would like a monthly virtual coffee morning. Thus, we will plan one for September, October, November and December. Perhaps the last one can have a festive theme and reflect on the previous term, noting any good practice we want to share about our blended teaching and learning experiences. Dates, times and themes to be confirmed.
If anyone wants to host a coffee morning, or write up a post-meeting blog, get in touch with me or a member of the Executive Committee.
Hope to see some of you at a coffee morning soon; if you are taking holiday over the summer, have a lovely time.
