Foundation Year Network virtual events calendar for 2022-2023

We’re hoping everyone had a nice, safe and uneventful start of the academic year. We’re definitely enjoying seeing our campuses busy with students again! Every academic year, the Foundation Year Network aims to organise a series of workshops for our community. These are virtual, so you can join from home or office and don’t need to travel to attend in person.

The first workshop of the year happened this week and was let by Camilla Priede  and Steve Leech. It focused on reflecting on teaching in foundation years, and we hope it was particularly useful to those of us new to teaching on foundation years.

The next three workshops will be the following:

  • 9th of November 2022 2-4pm we will be running two CPD sessions in parallel. The first session will be focused on Fellowship and Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, and the second one will look at Principal Fellowship of the HEA and promotions.
  • 25th of January 2023 2-4pm – The Form and function of cultural capital in the Foundation Year
  • 8th of March 2023 2-4pm – Promoting wellbeing for staff and students

In addition to these workshops, there will be two drop-in coffee chats which are planned as informal get togethers. Please join us to discuss how the semester has been going for you so far, share best practice and look forward to the next terms. They will be on the following dates:

  • 14th of December 2022 2-3:30pm- Christmas fireside chat
  • 26th of April 2023 2-3:30pm – Easter afternoon tea

Further details and joining information will be send to the Foundation Year mailing list closer to the time of each event, and we will also be sharing details on our Twitter account at @foundationyear1. We look forward to seeing you at our events!
